Evaluation of Pop Promo Prelim.

For our pop prelim task we filmed a band from Brighton. We were put into groups of 3 - 4 and filmed a section of the song ourselves. My group got given the last section of the song which unfortunately didn't have much singing. Because there was not as much singing we decided to be clever with our shots so they were still interesting. Our first shot choice was a wide shot, the reason we choice a wide shot was because we wanted the whole band to be seen as well as the interesting set. The next few shots we did was a series of close ups on all the different band members. The reason we did a series of close ups was because we wanted all the band members to be seen as well as establishing what instrument they were playing. Because it was the last section of the song we really wanted to make all the band members and the part they played in the band made aware of for the final part of the song and video. Overall i feel that the close up shots worked really well, the reason i say this is because they were quick yet highlighted individual band members. One thing that our group could of improved on was having a definite order of the shots we wanted to do. Looking back we didn't know exactly what shots were meant to go where, so if our organisation had been better the filming process would of been faster.

Through the filming process i played a few roles with helping bringing the video together. To begin with i operated the camera which included recording and cutting the film, i also played the 'Director' which meant i had to get everyone into place and make sure everyone was ready to for another take. Lastly my main role was 'playback'. Playback was when i had to play back the music but make sure it was the right track and at the right time.

As a group we all worked well together, we agreed on everything we wanted to do and were fair with the roles within the filming process.

Overall i was really happy with how the filming went. The footage looked great once put together and i think all the groups worked incredibly well in such a short space of time to create a music video that looked professional.
